Fort Stanwix National Monument

Located at the strategic Oneida Carrying Place linking the Mohawk River and the passage to Lake Ontario, Fort Stanwix was constructed by the British during the French and Indian War. A spirited American defense in 1777 blunted the British invasion of New York. Today, a meticulous reconstruction by the National Park Service offers an unparalleled window into Revolutionary War life.
