Reenactment of Henry Knox Arriving at Head of Lake George

December 12, 2025

As the kick-off activities at Lake George commemorating Henry Knox’s Noble Artillery Train in the winter of 1775-76, a reenactor portraying Knox will arrive by bateau at the head (southern end) of Lake George and ride in on a horse-drawn sleigh toward Fort George, where he stayed for 2 weeks in December 1775. Knox and other reenactors will tell of his time at Lake George as he began recruiting the teams he needed to transport 60 tons of artillery all the way to Boston.

Other events to follow that day include a reception featuring historian Rick Atkinson (“The Fate of the Day) which begins at 4:30pm at the Holiday Inn Resort Lake George and a public event at Lake George High School with Mr. Atkinson and other historians discussing Knox and other milestone Revolution events.
