Masons in Early Vermont
Many Revolutionary War leaders were members of the Masons fraternal organization, and much has been rumored about their secretive ways in the aftermath of the war and the early creation of the United States government. Early Vermont leaders were no exception, as many were members of the Mason. But, just four decades later, the Masons nearly went extinct in Vermont and many politicians were elected who ran on an openly Anti-Masonic ticket. Why did this happen? And how did a small group of Vermont Masons kept the fraternity alive, even in it’s darkest hour.
Q&A after the presentation. Refreshments provided. Come early to visit the museum and the militia reenactment put on by Whitcomb’s Rangers from 10am-2pm! Fun for the whole family!
